Chinese MICE professionals explore the Bavarian capital

Neuschwanstein Castle is considered the epitome of romance in China, especially amongst young couples, the German Bundesliga and its most popular club, FC Bayern, have many Chinese fans and cars that are ‘Made in Bavaria’ are held in high regard in China. The world is so big, it is truly remarkable. At any rate, the positive perception is a good basis for Munich to position itself as a first-class MICE destination in one of the largest economies in the world.

The demand of Chinese event planners for events abroad, first and foremost in Europe and in particular in Germany, is constantly increasing, as travel has become easier and more self-evident for Chinese citizens. The Chinese MICE market also offers Munich great opportunities to attract new customers for events in the Bavarian capital.

Trade fair quartet

Thus, in cooperation with the German Convention Bureau, Munich Convention Bureau, TAO European Incoming GmbH and other partners, Messe München GmbH welcomed a Chinese delegation of eight MICE professionals and a journalist in the summer on an educational trip in Munich. The aim of the event was to enthuse the guests about Munich and to present them with the manifold possibilities of the four locations of Messe München.

Messe München with its 18 halls and large outdoor area, the ICM - International Congress Centre Munich, the MOC Event Centre Munich and the Messe München Conference Centre Nord offer the perfect setting for every type and every scale of event. State-of-the-art technical equipment, expert service and the modular room system guarantee successful events, from large trade fairs that break visitor records such as BAUMA, to show-stopping conferences such as the Bits & Pretzels with Barack Obama as speaker, to spectacular shows and gala dinners.

Bon appetit

The capabilities of Munich's hotel industry were demonstrated in site inspections of the Hotel Bayerischer Hof and the Hotel Sofitel, once the home of the former Royal Bavarian Post Office next to the main railway station. Of course, culinary experiences were also on the agenda. Allegedly, there is a persistent rumour in China that pork knuckle and beer are on the table every day in Germany. Many other traditional delicacies which are often eaten in Munich were tasted by the delegates, for instance, in the Hofbräuhaus and Spatenhaus.

On a guided walking tour, the guests from the Far East discovered Munich tales and the architectural jewels of the old town as well as the magnificent Residenz. Other highlights included a guided tour of BMW World and a rickshaw tour to the English Garden for lunch at the Seehaus.
