The palaces of Schleissheim at the gates of Munich are ideal for a half-day trip – best with an official City of Munich guide. For lovers of porcelain, Lustheim Palace is a must.
On the occasion of his marriage to the Austrian emperor's daughter Maria Antonia in 1685, Elector Max Emanuel commissioned the construction of the little hunting and garden palace of Lustheim.
It is situated about one kilometer away from Schleissheim Palace.
Today Lustheim Palace houses the world-famous early Meissen porcelain collection of Professor Ernst Schneider, second in importance only to the Dresden collection. It comprises more than 2,000 precious sets of tableware, centrepieces as well as animal figurines.
