Guided Tours

With "vui Gfui", i.e. with "lots of feeling" and "lots of emotion", people with visual impairments discover the highlights of Munich (different languages available).

 

City Tours

The blue buses of the Munich city tours also all have folding ramps (different dimensions) and a place for a wheelchair. The tours start in Sonnenstraße - Karlsplatz 21 - next to the Hotel Buddy.

 

Aiming high even in a wheelchair

You can get a beautiful view of Munich from the Neues Rathaus on Marienplatz. There is a viewing platform on the 9th floor of the city hall tower. The lift can be reached via the passage to the state courtyard.

You can get a great view all the way to the Alps from the observation deck of the Olympiaturm in the Olympiapark one of the tallest towers in Europe.

The gondolas in the Umadum Ferris Wheel in Werksviertel-Mitte near Ostbahnhof allow wheelchairs with a maximum width of 70cm to ride in a gondola and are rewarded with a beautiful view over Munich.

Museums in Munich

Experience the Deutsches Museum with all your senses and discover the many stations to touch, see and hear.

The Haus der Kunst am Englischen Garten is one of the world's leading museums of contemporary art.

The Neue Sammlung in the Pinakothek der Moderne offers the largest design collection in the world with around 120,000 objects.

You can gain insights into Munich's city history from a Jewish perspective at the Jüdisches Museum on Sankt-Jakobs-Platz in the city centre.

You can see the cultures of the world at a glance in the Museum Fünf Kontinente.

The NS Dokumentationszentrum conveys the history of National Socialism with a view to the present and the future in exhibitions, events and projects.

In the Kunstareal you will find, among others, the Alte Pinakothek, the Pinakothek der Moderne and the Museum Brandhorst.

The Museum Mensch und Natur (Man and Nature Museum) is a natural history museum in the northern part of Nymphenburg Palace.

The world's largest collection of the art of the Blaue Reiter can be seen in the Lenbachaus.

For fans of antique sculptures, a visit to the Glyptothek on Königsplatz is worthwhile. Munich's first public museum is devoted exclusively to Greek and Roman statues.

The DenkStätte Weiße Rose (White Rose Memorial) at the atrium of Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität is a central place of remembrance for the history of student resistance.

The Staatliches Museum Ägyptischer Kunst (State Museum of Egyptian Art) takes you into the world of the pharaohs.

Leisure activities in Munich

Nymphenburg Palace is one of the largest palaces in Germany and, with its park, offers a beautiful excursion destination in the city.

The modern BMW Welt building is impressive from the outside and the exhibition with models of all BMW Group brands inspires guests from all over the world. Admission is free. 

Visit the Allianz Arena, the football temple in the north of the city.

The Hellabrunn Zoo is home to around 18,500 animals and you have an unobstructed view of all the enclosures. Only the aquarium in the basement is accessible via stairs.

Explore the impressive underwater world at SEA LIFE Munich. All levels can be reached via a lift.

Petuelpark is a barrier-free park in the north of the city and has a beautiful barrier-free playground.

In the Bavaria Filmstadt you can look behind the scenes and learn more about film and television.

In the summer months there are nice open-air cinema evenings at the cinema, Mond & Sterne or the Kino am Olympiasee.

Many parks and gardens offer relaxation from the hustle and bustle of the big city.

At Riemer See, an artificial lake in the east of Munich, there is a bathing area with a ramp for wheelchair users into the lake.
